We started our travel in Australia 3 months ago and we decided to have a week off to New Zealand at the beginning of December. You can find cheap flights from Sydney or Melbourne as well.

We are living 2 hours of driving from Sydney, so we chose a flight from Sydney to Christchurch, from the 2nd of December to the 10th of December. Travel perfectly planned, we thought that these 8 days would be perfect for travelling the whole South island ❤️ 2nd of December, suitcases ready 😍 We didn't book any place to sleep, we rented a car and brought 2 sleeping bags with us and let's see. We had an evening flight and we had a perfect time at the airport as well... 😀we were totally excited about our trip where we've never been. 🤸‍♀️

... and finally arrived to New Zealand :))) 1am, morning, airport in Christchurch... fortunately we could pick up the car and we found a parking place to sleep a couple of hours.

Like in Australia you can find clean, well-equipped public toilets along the road and in the towns as well which makes your travel much more comfortable. We are two people who love nature so there was no question to leave immediately the city 🤸‍♀️🌏🌳🌞🌺🌊 We woke up at 7am and we started our journey immediately after we bought some food for the next two days 🙂

Firts stop: Picton, from where we decided to travel around the South island. On the Eastern side we wanted to stop at Kaikoura which is a beautiful place to see whales and dolphins. Last year there was a heavy earthquake on that side and the road from Christchurch to Picton was still closed. We took the road 7 and 63 to Picton. Stopped at several places, the beauty around us started immediately after we left Christchurch. To Picton you see green hills with rocks, forests, sheeps, cows, vineyards, rivers. We share some of our beautiful moments...

& stop to feel the breeze of the ocean... 🌊

& stop to sleep a little bit 🌳🌲🌺

& stop to walk a bit... in some parking place you find this cute bird, called weka (it's not a kiwi 😀

Arrived to Picton at 7pm, fully tired, sleepy, found our camp (Parklands Marina Park) which we found on the way. We love sleeping in tents and in camps, small places. We truly suggest this camp if you come to visit the island.

Clean, in the heart of nature, calm, relaxing place at a reasonable price. We started with a quick swimming in the camp pool, took a shower then a short walk to the pier and in the center, bought a bottle of wine to celebrate our awesome arrival into this paradise with our shining full moon 😉🌕🌏
