... woke up in the paradise...

Usually we wake up around 6-7am, but we were so tired after our arrival so we were sleeping till 8:30. Last night we found a room at a family who seemed very simpatic so we decided to sleep there. We had the whole day to arrive till Greymouth (349km from Picton and it takes about 4-5 hours) which is a small town on the Western side of the island, close to the Franz Josef Glacier and the Fox Glacier. In our plan there was a trip to the Franz Josef Glacier but we are always flexible which means if we find something interesting to check on our way, just stop and take time there. Exactly happened this way 😀 After waking up, I made a huge quantity of coffee and we left this beauty behind us.

Breakfast on the way ☺️ mostly something light, yogurt, musli, fruit...

There is an other amazing place on the Northern part of the island, called Abel Tasman National Park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abel_Tasman_National_Park). We will discover it next time since we stopped pretty before for a while. Close to Nelson (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson,_New_Zealand) we had a short walk and we continued our trip to the glaciers.

Then we saw written... Seal Colony 20km... hmmm... interesting, very interesting 😀 No doubt, we had to check this place. Before reaching the colony, we found a lighthouse from where you have an amazing view.

Then we found the place from where you can see the seals lying on the rocks. We made the best decision that we could have done. Since there was low tide, we crossed the sea to reach the small island where there are the seals.

First we didn't see anything, then Mike suddenly saw a big seal on a rock.

Amazing experience... but... never go closer to them than 10 meters. They protect their area and they can be very fast when they feel themselves in danger. We were wondering a little bit in this miracle then we decided to turn back till the level of the sea is not high. Fortunately we didn't meet any seal in the sea which would have been really dangerous 😏 When you have a possibility to do a similar thing, take care and be very cautious. We continued our trip to visit a glacier. We decided to see the Franz Josef Glacier but we had to postpone it for the next day since we had more small stops durnig the day... 🙂

We arrived in Greymouth arund 8pm, we bought some food in the supermarket then went to our place.

The couple where we slept was really nice and the house was in perfect conditions. We had dinner with a sweet surprise from our host 🙂😍

We had an awesome day with surely a longlife experience when we had this incredible meeting with the seals face to face. We were already excited about the next day so we went to sleep immediately 😀🌏
