“Jewels of the Earth” - Rainforest tour during Hola cyclone… A day we definitely wanted to go into the rainforest and walk a little bit independently from the weather. The evening before we saw that the sea level was extremely low which was not a good sign and during the evening was strong wing and some rainfalls. The day when there was no sun only rain we decided to go... we thought that the tour will be totally authentic and we can really feel the nature itself.

A quick morning training then breakfast 🙂

After our breakfast the rain and the wind started to be much heavier. It was really a special feeling… the day before beautiful sunshine, crystal clear water and now dark sky, stormy water, bowing palm trees… we decided to wait a little bit 😀

Then we’ve got the news, there’s a cyclone (called Hola) coming towards the island. We checked the weather map and we saw that it’s very close to the island and it seemed that it's coming closer and closer. I've never had experience how it is, but we hoped that its' direction will change and Mike knew that it should be not dangerous…

In the meantime some info about the rainforests in Vanuatu 🙂 “Rainforests are forests characterized by high rainfall, with annual rainfall in the case of tropical rainforests between 250 and 450 centimetres (98 and 177 in), and definitions varying by region for temperate rainforests. The monsoon trough, alternatively known as the intertropical convergence zone, plays a significant role in creating the climatic conditions necessary for the Earth's tropical rainforests. Around 40% to 75% of all biotic species are indigenous to the rainforests. There may be many millions of species of plants, insects and microorganisms still undiscovered in tropical rainforests. Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there.” Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainforest “The Vanuatu rain forests are a terrestrial ecoregion that includes the islands of Vanuatu, as well as the Santa Cruz Islands group of the neighboring Solomon Islands. It is part of the Australasia ecozone, which includes neighboring New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands, as well as Australia, New Guinea, and New Zealand. The Vanuatu rain forests are a tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests ecoregion, also known as a tropical rainforest.” Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanuatu_rain_forests .... and about the cyclones 😀 "In meteorology, a cyclone is a large scale air mass that rotates around a strong center of low atmospheric pressure. Cyclones are characterized by inward spiraling winds that rotate about a zone of low pressure. In the Atlantic and the northeastern Pacific oceans, a tropical cyclone is generally referred to as a hurricane (from the name of the ancient Central American deity of wind, Huracan), in the Indian and south Pacific oceans it is called a cyclone, and in the northwestern Pacific it is called a typhoon.” Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclone ... ok, let's see 😍🙃 Around 10 we started our rainforest discovering experience. 2 important things to bring with you... waterproof jacket and waterproof shoes. We had the best shoes that we could have imagined thanks to our sponsor, Merrell Australia. As we wrote in our instagram posts, we really felt our feet like being in a soft pillow. We are so grateful and we cannot wait to bring these beauties with us to our next adventure tour.

In the stormy weather the guys navigated perfectly the small boats and you could really feel in safe 🙂

We took a bus and did a quick round trip on the island (with local beer tasting 😁) then we continued our day on foot.

An interesting thing... many times happens when on one side of the island is rainy, windy, on the other side you find sunlight and clear sky ☺️ for a short time we also had this experience 🌞

In the heavy rain… walking and walking and walking and we enjoyed it so much 🙂 no matter how windy, rainy, stormy is the weather, we just felt perfection and peace around us. We even found the ways where to escape if… 😀

In the rain locals are using the rain to take shower, to wash their few things and to have fun 🙂

On the road you see happy, smiling faces as usual, women who take food to each other, children who play in nature, even when it rains. We loved their everyday entertainment which was about catching the small fruits from a huge tree, hitting them with their sticks 🙂 Boys and girls separately of course, everybody had their own trees 😉😁

Simply amazing how people live their happy life, they are simply just happy to live… this is what everybody should learn… go back to simplicity and enjoy the life! This is the real source of your happiness 🙂

I also took some coconuts in the rain, we loved everything here 😍

After many hours of walking we went back to our island to rest and I just hoped that we can sleep during this heavy rain and with the feeling that there is a strong cyclone around us… 🙂

In our final blog we will report an interview with the manager of the island and we guarantee that you will enjoy it a lot 😉 Hear you soon 🙂
